I love working with photographer Samantha Jones – not only a talented photographer (she’s photographed workshops of mine and done some family portraiture for me), but she’s an all-round smiley person and has an amazing knack of being able to work calmly with children and animals! It’s no wonder that the latest wing of her business portfolio is doing so well – she’s the face behind Just About Dogs Photography.
Earlier this year we met in a local coffee shop and Samantha shared with me her plan to photograph dogs wearing flower crowns … and paw corsages! Samantha scouted for doggy models. She’d worked with some of her four-legged friends before – and others she tracked down on her regular dog walking routes.
For the shoot itself I worked with silk flowers in order to ensure longevity over the period of the shoot. Samantha worked deftly with the dogs to produce these amazing photographs.
Samantha’s photographs have been featured in the June 2016 edition of Your Kent Wedding – and have been quite of hit with readers, with one telling the Editor “finally, the perfect excuse to include my dog at our wedding”.
Flower crowns, collars or corsages can be made with fresh flowers to tie in with your own bridal details. I would suggest, however, that you have a practice run with your dog so it gets used to the feel of wearing flowers. Personally I’m not a huge fan of silk flowers – but provided your florists sources really high quality materials I think you’ll find them a great option in terms of withstanding wear and tear on your big day.

Lovely, as always, to work with you Julie and I’m so delighted that our efforts paid off, both in getting some fabulous images and also getting featured in a wedding magazine!
Hope to work with you many more times in the future!
This is such a great post. I love the idea for my dog to wear flowers at my wedding. If I get married again, I will definitely consider having my dog involved somehow.
Thanks Amelie - I’m sure your dog would look fabulous wearing a flower crown.
Thanks so much for sharing such a delightful post. You have mentioned some smart instruction with impressive images. I really appreciate I will certainly dig it and personally suggest to my friends. I’m sure they’ll be benefited from this website.
You’re welcome!
